A grade letter is useful only when it points to written criteria. Before comparing quotes, put the cosmetic condition, battery threshold, parts rule and required functions on the same page.
BiteLot’s four cosmetic grades
BiteLot uses A+, A, B and C for pre-owned units. The maintained grading standard defines acceptable marks for the display, frame and back of each grade, along with the minimum Battery Health percentage. Those values belong on that page so a change cannot leave several articles with conflicting thresholds.
Grade describes cosmetic condition and the disclosed checks. It does not replace the functional checklist: every offered pre-owned unit must pass the functions listed in the grading standard and the inspection process.
Compare the fields behind the letter
When reviewing any supplier’s grade, ask for the underlying rules in writing:
- How are display, frame and back marks assessed?
- What minimum Battery Health applies to each grade?
- How are Parts and Service History results handled?
- Which functions must pass regardless of cosmetic grade?
- What photo or video evidence identifies the same unit as the lot list?
- Which terms apply if the delivered unit differs from the written record?
This turns a letter into a checkable specification. If another grading scale is required, send it with the inquiry for review; any accepted requirements need to appear in the quote and unit evidence.
Parts and Service History
Apple explains that Settings, General, About can show Parts and Service History on supported iPhone models and iOS versions. The wording can identify a Genuine, Used or Unknown part, depending on the model, part and software version.
BiteLot checks that screen and discloses the result under its current grading rule. Avoid treating appearance alone as proof of a part’s status.
Evidence before the balance
The inspection process ties each unit’s video to its recorded identifiers and check results. Review the lot list and per-unit evidence against the grade definition before approving the balance. Sealed new units follow their separate unopened verification and Apple warranty process; they are not assigned a used cosmetic grade.
